If you have a bad real estate agent, there’s probably a little voice in your head warning you about moving forward with them. We understand; it may feel like a huge hassle to switch real estate agents once you’ve chosen one, but having someone who truly has your best interests at heart is essential with a task this important. Here are four warning signs you are working with a bad real estate agent. Lack of CommunicationAll real estate agents should know how to communicate effectively. They need to understand exactly what you’re hoping to get out of this process so they can represent your interests. If days or weeks go by without hearing back from them, you need to find a different agent. Delayed responses can be a deal-breaker for buyers, so poor communication can cost you a sale. Real Estate Is a Side GigExperience is important, too. If you’ve hired an agent who does real estate in their spare time, you can’t expect them to have a solid understanding of the job. The more responsibilities your agent has to juggle, the less of a priority you are. Late to AppointmentsWith open houses and tours, punctuality is key. You don’t want buyers waiting around for hours to see your home, as it will leave them with a bad taste in their mouth for the whole tour. If you notice your agent showing up late to appointments or rescheduling at the last minute, that’s a big warning sign. Too Eager To PleaseYour agent should be the expert. If you want to list your house at an exorbitant price that no buyer would ever agree to, your agent needs to tell you that you’re making a mistake. Agents who are too eager to please the seller can make negotiations drag on for months without actually getting what the seller wants. Now that you know the four warning signs that you’re working with a bad real estate agent, you can also consider avoiding this dilemma altogether. It got me interested when you said that we must look for a real estate agent who can communicate effectively. My husband is planning to purchase a new house next month. I guess I should tell him to look for an agent who can also recommend the best property where we can grow our family.
