Many houses Direct Property Buyer purchases come with the stuff that the previous owner didn't want or couldn't take with them. There's been some pretty unique items left behind over the years. Many sellers who plan to leave some personal items ask us what we do with the items.
Items are sorted before removal into piles: donate, recycle, and throw away. We always do our best to donate furniture and items of some value to those who need it. In the case of a recent purchase in Villa Park there was a lot of canned food left behind--soups, vegetables, sides. The food was sorted and cans that hadn't expired were donated to the Elmhurst-Yorkfield Food Pantry. When the items were dropped off on a Saturday morning, shortly before Christmas it was clear how much items like these were needed. The food pantry was filled with families and people waiting their turn to take home items they badly needed. In each case where some items of potential value are left behind we do our best to find a local charity to put those items back in use for someone who needs it.
